Westfield Lacrosse Pays Tribute to a Great Man
The Westfield lacrosse community lost one of our founding fathers recently.  Lawrence H. “Skip” Prybylski III passed away Friday, June 7th.  Skip was a co-founder (along with Tom Sprague) of the Westfield Lacrosse Club and served as club President for many years.  Skip is the father of four boys that played lacrosse for Westfield: Hank, Mark, Todd, & Matt.
Skip was passionate about lacrosse and helped build the Westfield Lacrosse Club from the ground up.  A generation of children in Westfield had the opportunity to play lacrosse because of his dedication and commitment.  Skip is credited with helping develop youth lacrosse players in Westfield and prepare them for high school lacrosse.  The Westfield HS boys team played in four straight New Jersey state championship games from 1985–1988, winning the state championship in 1986 & 1987.
The Westfield Lacrosse Club continued to develop great teams along with great individual players.  Numerous players have received All-League, All-State, and All-American honors, including two of Skip’s grandsons, Luke & Owen Prybylski.
The Westfield Lacrosse Club is grateful to Skip for his devotion to our community and Westfield Lacrosse.  He leaves a lasting legacy on so many former Westfield HS teams and individuals.  Our thoughts are with the Prybylski family.

The team featured midfielders: Anthony Buoscio, Danny Hazard, Drew Kornfeld, Derek Lam, Michael Murphy, Alex Tilyou, John Veres and Dylan Wragg. On the defensive half of the field, fundamental, relentless and smothering defensive play came from Trey Brown, Dan Hanlon, Liam Oakes, Jack O’Connor, and Simon Thompson. Anchoring the team in goal was Quinn Wojcik with solid ball stopping and quick outlet passing. The team was coached by Boomer Wertheimer, Bill Oakes and Randy Wojcik.

Coach Wojcik noted: “It was a pleasure and privilege to coach these young men. We are extremely proud of their development and maturity on and off the lacrosse field. Their belief in each other, hard work, and unselfish style of lacrosse was demonstrated in our record, multiple championships and level of play. This is a very special group and we expect big things from them in upcoming years. The future of Westfield Lacrosse is bright.”
